4 Attendees
Meeting began at 4pm
We ate cupcakes
Summer Reading
-Attendees were excited about SR plans, especially the street art and poetry ideas. They were so excited about poetry, in fact, that they suggested a weekly poetry program over the summer.
Decorating the Balcony
-Were generally dissatisfied with the decorations. Asked for the posters to be “updated” and “less childish.”
-Were really into decorating using teen-created art.
-Suggested a “Drawing Night” where teens could create art that we could then decorate with.
-Also suggested a chalkboard so they could have a “graffiti wall.”
-Really wanted more book lists, displays, and suggestions.
-Suggested a “TAB Picks” book display and/or poster. Suggested a bunch of books:
-Smile by Raina Telgemeier
-Drama by Raina Telgemeier
-I Could Pee on This by Francesco Marciuliano
-Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper
-Trouble
-Legend by Marie Lu
-Divergent Veronica Roth
-Drums, Girls, and Dragons by Jordan Sonnenblick
-Children of the Lamp series by Philip Kerr
-The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
Newsletter
-None of the attendees were even aware that teens and tweens had their own page in the library newsletter. They liked the idea of having a separate newsletter just for them.
-Were excited about the idea of using the newsletter to display teen/tween created art and writing.
-Suggested a different “theme” for each newsletter, with the layout and book suggestions based on that theme.
Youth Collection
-Asked for some different magazines about sports and music.
-Suggested “Cricket Magazines”
-Asked for more books of poetry, and even suggested a separate poetry collection.
Youth Classes and Programs
-Drawing Night
-Interested in creating a large mural
-Suggested painting old frying pans
-Poetry Night
-Write and share poetry
-Music Night
-Listen to/discuss music
-Sort of a quiet night to read and relax
-Attendees were wildly excited about Monthly Movie Night, suggested a bunch of movies:
-Gnomeo and Juliet
-Oz the Great and Powerful
-Warm Bodies
-Beautiful Creatures
-Hunger Games
-The Perks of Being a Wallflower
-Lovely Bones
Teen/Tween Mascot
-Attendees really liked the idea of having a mascot for the balcony.
-They agreed that whatever it was needed to have a mustache.
-They had a few ideas:
-Narwhal
-With a book impaled on it's horn (which is really a tooth!)
-Alien
-Cat
-Puffer Fish
-Book with legs
-I asked them to come up with some ideas/sketches by the next meeting.
Next Meeting
-Scheduled next meeting for next week on Tuesday, April 2nd.
-Attendees suggested tacos and/or bacon for the next snack. We'll see about that...

Possible mascot idea. Just imagine him with a mustache.
