Looking to learn a new skill? A new language? A new part of history? There are various ways you can do so straight from home. With your Library Card: You can use your library card number to access numerous courses on the Great Courses using the Libby App. The video above tells you how to get started. The Great Courses: Library Edition includes many courses that can teach you new things! Learn how to speak Spanish, learn Greek Philosophy, learn about the French Revolution! You can access so much with just your Meredith Library card. You can even learn how to play chess! Youtube Channels: There are many educational YouTube channels that can help teach you a new language! My Korean Friend Hailey is one example! Coupled with using other resources (apps, courses, books), Hailey can really help you understand and supplement your language learning! Apps: IOS and Android apps are a great way to test your knowledge and learn new skills, particularly when learning a new language. Duolingo and Memrise are two of my personal favorites! Duolingo has a free mode and Memrise has a free trial. MOOCS/Online Courses: Online courses and MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are another great way to learn new things. Many of these are available for free. Coursera.org has many free courses available for those who want to learn new skills or participate in professional development. I recently took an introduction to Korean course and found it extremely helpful while using it with other supplemental materials. They have many categories including web development, language learning, and social sciences.
There are other places to find MOOCs, including many from prominent Universities. What is your favorite way to learn?
